can anyone tell me what they see on these two lincolns,,,, looks like something with the date on the 89,,,, and the L on liberty on the 59 is right on the rim. many thx

Looks like MD on the date of the 89. It is not unusual to find LC's with the "L" close to the rim. Normal coins in IMO. Perhaps someone with more experience may see an ab-nominally.

Better photos could help. The '89 may me Die Deterioration. If the doubling looks like the devices are smeared across the surface with a shdow like appearance in the direction of the closest part of the rim, it is Die Deterioration Doubling. This is very common. Machine Doubling (MD) has raised but flattened shelf like doubling and reduced size devices. There are many example posted here frequently.

The 89 does look like Die Deterioration, and the L being close to the rim is normal for that era of coin.
