Hey yall, first post, love the site...

This cent is silver in color. Does not attract to a magnet. And weighs 3 grams (though I do not know the exact weight as this old scale doesn't show decimals)...

Worth anything? Thank you !!

Sure looks plated to me, potentially mercury, so, be careful with handling.

1943 cents were steel. Somebody tried to create a fake rarity.

That really isn't worth much, maybe mercury plated. Careful handling it!

There are 1943 bronze cents worth 6 figures. I'm just saying somebody tried to create a similar reversed rarity with a "steel" 1942. Another idea is that there are a bazillion re-plated 1943 cents, and maybe a 1942 snuck into a batch a dealer was plating.

Ah...ok, I see...

Well, I was sorta jazzed for a bit. When I search for 1942 cent with multiple different keywords attached (silver, plated, non-magnetic)...there really isn't much info out there. In my silly head, that meant it is SO rare even the internet doesn't know much about it. lol. But really...there isn't much info. You get maybe 1 page of the 1942 info (google) then it's 100 pages of the 1943.

That is why, I thought, it's rare, to be honest. But thanks again !!
