I found this and noticed the designers initials was missing. It looks like the F was starting to form, But it's wavy and not square as it should be. Thanks for looking and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Actually 'FG' was strong as normal when the die was fresh. When the die was over polished many times then the fields were getting reduced and the letters were eventually polished away. (they are not as deep as other devices) An altered die issue. They were there, but when your coin was struck, they were gone at that point. This was probably a RPD-005/ I've not seen a worn RPD-006 on a 1988 coin. They were used to finish that years coins. Was probably still being used in 1989 cent coinage.

Good eye to see that Newbie. 1988 is certainly a good year to check designer initials. I guess you were looking for a Reverse Design Variety?

Yes I thought you probably were. This one is kind of neat, but in my opinion has no value because not all of the design is missing. I found an 006 once, that's definitely the one to look for.
