Even in this low grade, there're anomalies to point out - the "o" above the "M" looks to have been repunched; it's certainly significantly tilted in any case. The dot to the left may also have been repunched, as well. The "8" in "8R" also looks to have been redone (the vestige of the previous "8" suggesting it may have originally been set too high).

Well, it is not that bad as the title says. You can see a nice eagle here. I hope, that it was not too expensive.

Well worn, holed & probably polished. It's a pretty awful specimen overall.

That was the upside aspect, at only about 2X melt for all its faults I just couldn't leave it behind.

You know... I'll be honest though I will probably be looked at as naive... I don't mind holed coins... I have several 8 reales that have been holed. What I love about coins is that they were part of history (I'm a history buff and also collect antique documents etc, mostly pre- US Civil War). I try to stay away from heavily polished coins but other signs of wear just speak to that coin having been a part of history... to have actually been used as it was intended... if only they could speak...

I like this coin, lots of history and I bet it could tell some great stories. For the record it is variety MO11A/MR11A from the reference book "Hookneck" by Hubbard and O'Harrow. The reference book does not guess at variety scarcity outside of the famous "Repulica" variety but this is not one of the ones commonly seen.
