This looks exactly like the doubling on the 72 Lincoln ddo#3 but it's ten years later any ideas ?

Need more pictures since there should be doubling on other areas as well. If only on "2", most likely it is either MD or damage. Clearer picture would help a lot too.

Thank you ,however they need to be a bit more clear ,and it's nice if you rotate them so they are right side up

That's about as clear as I can get right now of the whole coin ,I'm new at this and will be getting better equipment to do so. How is what you are seeing rotated because the pics I see are right side up

I am not understanding - you are talking about a 72, but this is an 82. Are you saying that you see features of a 72 DDO on an 82? Best to look at some 82 DDOs on coppercoins.com or varietyvista.com for comparison

I've looked and can't find this particular type of doubling on an 82 I was just using the 2 on the 72 DDO as an example of what it looks like to me . Sorry to be confusing with that reference. I'm gonna hang on to this until I can get some better equipment to take better pics , I appreciate everyone's input on this , thank you for taking time to reply .

to the forum! I am not seeing any doubling that would have came from a die. I think the 2 of the date may have been damaged. If you look closely, you can see how the horizontal bar of the two is shorter than it should be, if it were doubled it would be larger, not smaller.

I see a hit on the two. Just a note, the doubled dies from 1972 would not be present on a 1982.

I have found some crazy things on pennies I would have never had guessed would be there. I know it takes years to gather the knowledge you folks have and I look forward to being able to pick your brains on occasion and I thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge with a rookie !
