I was casting about looking for a pocket magnifier I could carry to coin shows. I usually take my 10x loupe which is great for fine details. But, often you want to use a lower power for a preliminary look. I found a "Bausch & Lomb Folding Pocket Magnifier" that has two lenses (4X and 9X). Looks like it might be just what I'm looking for. Anyone have this or use one before? Was hoping for input before I pulled the trigger. Edited by batboy 01/26/2017 10:41 am

That's a great selection. Built like a brick, great for variable magnification, one of my two favorites.
Great lenses too that don't distort much on the periphery.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll buy it tomorrow morning unless I hear some negative comments. {I love and curse how easy it is to buy stuff from Amazon.com.}

I have one and keep it in my pickup. (You never know when you will find coins in the wild). Certainly not as good as Hastings triplet, but very good option as it gives you multiple magnifications.

Ok, I guess one lens is 4X and the other is 5X. Supposedly you can combine them for 9X.

I've used one of these, but personally I much prefer a 7X for everyday use.

Do you have a preferred 7x model?

For "everyday" use, I'd sure want a magnifier with a larger diameter lens. This one is rather small. Just looking for a pocket magnifier to take when I go to coin shows or go traveling (never know when you need to locate a tiny splinter in your finger).

I have that one and use it mostly to get splinters out of my hands.
