Things happen...I found a ~$500 coin today for $10 at a show. Amazing story...almost unbelievable, but I'll wait for pics and a consensus on value.

I agree Kurt, things get overlooked sometimes, like cherry-picking a rare VAM dollar in a dealer's album because they were so busy (or doesn't care)and buy it for the regular price. But you think a full collection of certified Walkers would get missed ? And what kind of discount do Littleton employees get ? 98% ? Also, if this "ex-employee" knew the value (thus bragging the discount), why sell it 1-2% of it's true value ? Why not make an extra $50k-70k by selling it to any dealer ? It's like going to a jewelry store and someone offers you 10 oz of gold for 50 bucks. Again, not trying to rain on this potential great find here, but there are too many questions with no logical answer.

You could probably sell it back to Littleton for more than a thousand.
I would not be surprised if this was not a short set--1941-1947, I think I have seen as a short set.

Littleton only give employees a discount. And from what my friend says it isn't really that great. I'll email her and ask what exactly the discount is.

1sikevo, like I said..."almost unbelievable" It doesn't bother me to give a little benefit of doubt--then again I don't collect Walkers to really know how plausible that is. So let's see pics before we go on about this?

If you were to put together a "year set", could you come in under a grand?
Year set as in one a year, no regard for mint marks, just the cheapest one that year...
Asking the gallery a serious question, and giving the thread author benefit of doubt.
Also, if Littleton is like some of these other mail order companys with fancy boxes and frames, then their idea of MS64 is CLEANED extra well.

ratio411: According to PCGS price guide: A complete set of date at MS64 grade would cost 37 grand. A complete set of date and mint marks at MS64 would cost 211 grand. See this link: http://www.pcgs.com/prices/PriceGui...l.aspx?c=733Hi, bigcartwheels, we need more clarification here!! I hope that you did not just dig a hole and let the rest of us fall into it. Because that would not be cool.

i send you yinzi. My best find was a bag of pennies, found several teens in it. Only paid 10 buck for about 500 or them.

"their idea of MS64 is CLEANED extra well."
I actually know a dealer who sells his extra stock to Littleton, and he says they're very picky about what they buy. The rationale seems to be they won't buy anything that a customer could later complain about. That said, I still think they charge too much.
