Am I the only one who finds the obverse ugly and the reverse unimaginative? I am not a fan of the front facing portraits. And it's like there was no thought whatsoever for the old reverse. But I have to give it credit though for being consistent. But I really wish the bison design would have stuck.

I have gotten used to them. I am not even sure how I felt about them when they came out.

I've always had mixed feelings about it jbuck. I thought cool, new design after 66 years, maybe it would revitalize the series. That said I don't like the design. It's too flat and I can see the design wearing down easily. But that reverse is boring and not to mention 79 years old. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE consistency but I think 79 years is a good run.

Thank those necessarily high mintages for that flat design. Lower relief allows for faster presses and longer die life.

I don't like the design, but I hate how a single bag mark on the obverse can ruin the eye appeal of the coin, much more so than any other design.

Kind of a miniature Peace dollar that makes every bag mark look like it's waving at you.

I don't have a strong opinion one way or another and comparing the original obverse, the Westward Journey obverse, and the Return to Monticello obverse side-by-side-by-side, I like them all.
Perhaps the difficulty in finding a mark-free 2006-date Jeff in the wild makes them all the more fun to collect.

Supports my CRH searches ... front portrait goes into the bag ... after a quick look for obvious errors.

I'm alright with it, except for that glaring emptiness in the upper right field. Quote: It's too flat and I can see the design wearing down easily. I had a 2007P as a pocket piece for a good 7 years or so. Its wear was just starting to get interesting when I lost it in the snow at work :/

I will say this. I am glad for the design changes because I can call my 1938-2003 Jefferson nickel collection complete.

An US Mint attempt to irritate coin collectors enough to stop collecting coins.

I'm with you guys! I dot like the 2006 obverse. I do like the 2005 though. It was a good change to me.
