Is there a way to tell if it is an 1893 or an 1892 if the date is worn off?

If the date is 100% worn off, the answer is "No." If a portion of the date remains, there is a chance.

Post some images and maybe we can help.

Show us some in-focus photos of the date area (if any of the date detail remains).

I had a similar dilemma with a partial date Columbian and we had a great time trying to nail it down ... eventually PCGS agreed with the CCF majority opinion and certified the coin as a PO01 1893.

It is a coin I found on ebay, and there is no trace of a date whatsoever...matter of fact...it has no back!

Thank you for your responses!

No "back"?

Now you really need to show us some photos.

Like I said, there is no reverse (I actually said there is no back...but you get the point.)

That example has made a couple of ebay appearances ... seller trying to market it as a PO01 coin.

It is not certifiable as such and worth only the value of the 90% silver it contains. Interesting curiosity if you are into such things ... but it is not worth anything to a lowball specialist.

Wow, that is one serious low ball candidate if it only had part of the date.

If it was a one year type commemorative it would be long gone and would be at PCGS by now. :)
