I don't collect these (yet), but found this one in an old box of mostly wheat cents and wondered about a grade.

Nasty gouge on the reverse detracts, but otherwise what grade would you assign to this coin?

My not-very-educated guesstimate is VG-8 details.

Agreed, VG details, damage obverse/reverse (gouges on both sides)

It isn't a rare date, with the damage the value is silver melt unfortunately.

It was fun researching the series a bit - I grew to like it more than I thought I would.

I would pay 1.5x melt for that.
