What is a fair price for circulated Barber half dollars? I purchased 5 low-grade circulated examples for $7 a piece at the local coin show. Is this the rate to be expected from a high-volume coin/jewelry store?
Junk silver at my store was something around 15x face, so it would have been $7.50 there, and he only had a few walkers and a 1963 Franklin in there. I would have bought those Barbers at your price.
AG/G common date Barber halves without major defects will sell for $7 to $9 all day long; coins with full rims on both sides, a bit more. You paid a fair price.
