I'm new to collecting and wanted to get some feedback on a coin. I've been eyeing a island of man 1 oz silver angel reverse proof coin. If anyone can give me some insight on this coin I'd appreciate it. Also if anyone has any advice for a me feel free to chime in.

Generally, what kind of insight are you looking for?

I'm talking about price point, In general I know you want to be around 5% over spot when purchasing but I also know that some coins have a high premium.
Silver is on a upward swing and I was thinking if I should wait to purchase.

It depends on what you are trying to collect and why. If you are trying to turn a profit, I personally would not suggest Isle of Man reverse proof. The cheapest you will ever find them is $24-25. But I could be wrong-- I often am on these things. If you enjoy collecting and don't mind paying a dollar or two premium over spot (and sometimes more), you could frequently watch JMBullion, mcm, ampex, et al, the major bullion carriers and wait for their specials (something like, "Limited time, Australian Koalas $1.29 over spot, no limit"). Finding actual NCLT world bullion at 5% is not easy. At that price point, rounds and bars I find easier to pick up.

JM Bullion still has the buy up to 10 1oz Sunshine rounds for SPOT plus zero. and the 2016 Niue Hawksbill Turtle 1 oz coins for SPOT plus $1.79 no minimum purchase. ...both with free shipping.

Nss-52, thanks for the info, I spotted those last week was gonna pull the trigger but silver went up. Hopefully silver goes down next week so I can purchase. Crazyglue, thanks for the perspective, I figured if I bought these it would be for novelty although I do love the design.

and I do like the reverse proof. I have 2 of them. And BU world bullion already collects a substantial premium, so in my book a Proof under $30 is an easy buy for me. Most Proofs sell for $40 - $50 and up.

Debrajc, thanks for chiming in! Is there a high premium for the graded version of this coin?

Buy what you like and can afford. And unless you are buying a large amount, these small swings in spot price are inconsequential

Bought this same one at a coin show a few weeks back. Didn't, and still don't actually, know anything about it but I liked the design. At $24 figured why not. Later when I checked ebay I didn't see any going for less so felt even better. Normally ebay is the best when trying to get the lowest price but at least at coin shows you can see the coin in upfront before buying and most times you can haggle.

@el jefe I don't know about the graded version. I collect my world bullion raw. I also recently picked up the British Virgin Island Pegasus reverse proof. I do not ever buy silver to stack and see all my purchases strictly through a collectors perspective. And as such, I buy in singles not rolls. As has been mentioned buy what you like. That suits me well.

I suggest-
1- buy more gold over silver
2- stick to mostly semi-numismatic bullion
3- be diversified in what coins you get (so get mix of pandas, maples, eagles, kangaroos, Libertads)
4- do NOT buy PMs when they are in yearly downtrends, it is a losing game
5- buy slabbed ms-69 gold bullion coins, at auctions from dealers such as MCM coins, that is where you can start off with a fair price

You should stick to a more prevalent and easily attainable world billion coin, such as a maple leaf or a libertad. You will pay less over spot than for rarer coins such as an Isle of Man coin.
