we would need to see both sides of the bill, to make a fair assessment.. someone with more knowledge will be along, it depends on signatures as well..the above photo looks cropped or something, the picture looks too good to be true..

Looks like a scan, which makes it real difficult to estimate a grade...

10,000,000 printed of the Coyne Towers signatures, A/E prefix. Charlton claims
200 AU
400 UNC
500 CH UNC
600 GEM
Real world prices are of course less.

Cashless, your note looks quite nice, but the differences between those grades are difficult to judge from scans.

To me it looks MS63. I see a small counting flick on the photo of the back top right corner. there appears to be a small stain or smudge directly behind the Queen's dress.
There're some thing you have to look for with the note in hand as it can be difficult to capture in photographs and impossible with scans.
High end Devils face notes should have embossing on the back and they normally have wavy or rippled edge. I must point out the word normally is not all inclusive
Here's a section word for word from my Charlton cat. under grading tip.

" 1954 Devil's Face and Modified Portrait notes normally have wavy or rippled edges, as issued, when in original uncirculated condition. Sadly, the ripples have been pressed out on some notes in a failed attempt to "improve" them, resulting in a lower grade instead."

This paragraph leaves many to believe if there're no ripples then it's been pressed which couldn't be more incorrect.
There're many Devil's Face notes with strong embossing but no rippling effect, they didn't press out the rippling and leave the embossing.
What about notes placed into just a currency sleeve is this not going effect the waves over time?
Now place it in a binder with the weight of several other pages lying on top of it and you get the idea.
The words "normally have" in the paragraph should be changed to "may have". IMHO
Anyone agree?

Cheers, Bill

Wow you guy's are tough, what are you seeing to bring this down to AU?

Cashless try to get a picture that will show if there's any rippling or embossing if you can. With some camera's just a daylight photo with no flash works best.
Here's a picture of a devil Face five I took so that you can see the rippling. Although not as visible in this photo it has the same rippling effect along the top portion of the note also.

Cheers, Bill

For what little it is worth, I did some sleuthing on ebay sold listings for graded 1954 $20 devil's face notes, listed from North America. 1 of them sold for $229 US and the other for $234 US. Both were best offer accepted. They were both graded by PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. I am sure more research would show more results. One graded AU58 sold for $123 US.

The methodology I used to find the actual price accepted was from the SCF forum that Bobby hosts. KRelyea figured it out and I appreciate that as I am not smart enough to have thought of it myself.

That certainly helps, but with respect, it is virtually impossible to grade high-end paper money from pics of any kind. For example, a note can evidently have original paper and decent centering while still having evidence of handling that would not come through in a photo.

If you sent that note to BCS I'll bet it would only grade ,maybe) high AU, they are tough when grading notes.
