Interesting read. Answer to the last question re: Should companies do more to stop fakes...Why should they, they're in business to make money for themselves and investors, greed drives profit margins today, not the ethics and honesty of "yesteryear"! Integrity is an unknown word anymore, sad.
How frequent are coins listed on ebay fakes? I started buying coins and tend to purchase lower quality items for now. Some coins, like large cents, have faces that look a little different. Are there any "easy" ways to pick out the fakes? Or perhaps a checklist of obvious things to watch out for? Should I compare photos against certified coins? Are certified coins sometimes fakes?
