It's the exact shape of another penny, as if it got smashed with another penny. Or maybe its a die error. I do not know. Please send your thoughts. I know it's not worth more than face but to me a cool find. Any thoughts would help a lot. Still learning, alot of info to try and retain

Looks like a mint error to me. It must have been struck through something. We will see.

Two Penny's, a kid, and a hammer from daddy's workbench! Most likely PMD, to have an impression that deep some image should show, upper coin was tapped at angle, hence no image, reversed or not.

I'm not sure, looks like PMD to me. I can't think of how that would happen in the Mint.

I have to echo crazy and Jovian. The distinct lettering makes me say the coin was properly struck before being indented downward.

That is the work of a kid fooling around with daddy's hammer. I can make a few more of those, want to buy some?

Tyvm for a any replies, all info I can get is helping me alot, should I start a new thread for this next piece? It seems to have major " Cud" on both obverse and reverse. Any thoughts would be great

Those look like zinc rot bubbles to me. I can see how the obverse is tricky -- it's huge! The reverse pretty much confirms it for me though: your cent is rotting out. Just to be sure, you can apply a bit of pressure to the bubbles. It should yield, while a true Cud or other die chip won't.

You should put separate coins on separate threads. I still think the first one is a mint error, I don't see how the incuse area would not mess up the letters of TRUST if it was damage. An expert will probably explain what it is.

In mid 1982 the mint started making cents out of zinc and copper-plated them. Once the plating is compromised, air gets to the zinc. From there it doesn't take long.

with CoinMasters on the first (yes, create a new topic for the other cent). If it were a vise-job then why am I seeing "TRUS" clearly dipping into the depression? I'm thinking the planchet had that crescent indentation before the strike.

No apology necessary, you get a buy because you're a newbie. to the forum. Hang on to that first cent, till you get a ruling from an expert.

It is an odd impression, I can take more photos and of different angles if that helps with the discussion and learning more. Once again I really appreciate all the feedback, this is a great place to ask questions, you all are very knowledgeable
