I'm sure they will, but it has only been 10 minutes since you posted. Give it a little time. These folks are experts (not me though, so I can't help). They will help you.
Welcome!

@whatitdo, first welcome to CCF. Second, you have posted this question in the welcome section of the website, rather than in the section that most people look at for grading/verification. I'm going to recommend to the mods that they move this to a more appropriate location for you.

@whatitdo, the mods will likely move this to the "US Classic Coins" section, but you should receive an email notifying you of this change when it happens.

After taking a close look of your photos, I've come to only one conclusion; if it's counterfeit, it's a good one. I would really like to confirm it's authenticity by putting it on a scale and checking it with a caliper.

Other than the eagle being a little weak (Could be wear or a weak strike) it is pretty good looking. But I'm not an expert for sure, hopefully now that you are in the right forum a Trade dollar collector will give her/his opinion.

to the family. Doubt it, look at the stars, details missing, too nice of coin, you would need an actual weight to really tell. There's tons of fakes out there, this looks like one, albeit a good one. If you have another silver dollar, compare with a drop test, if dead sounding is most likely cast fake. Funny tho, the 1875 fakes I've seen are "S" mint?

The coin appears to be a cast counterfeit as there are what may be pits and bumps from the cast on the obverse. The points on the liberty ribbon do not show up in the photo. The stars also appear to be solid and not serpetated points.

Looks like a counterfeit to me; the strike looks especially mushy, and there are several depressions ( that look like small craters) making the head look "flea-bitten."

For what it's worth, my vote is for a cast counterfeit. There just seems to be a general lack of fine detail, especially on the obverse, in unusual areas for wear to explain.
