I don't really study Mercury dimes, so I'm not going to place a grade on it. However, I do specialize in Nickels. The 1928 Buffalo nickel was generally struck very good. That was the year the mint purchased some things to improve the die life of the coins. Anyway...

I would grade your 1928 Buffalo nickel at VG-8 Details. I went with Details because the coin is very heavily nicked.

The Mercury dime ... Old grading standards, Fine. New grading standards, VF-25

The Buffalo nickel has Fine sharpness, but its net grade is G-VG because of corrosion and porous surfaces. Most people think of corrosion as the green stuff that forms on copper. On copper-nickel coins, like the nickel, it is usually black. When a copper-nickel coin, which includes the Flying Eagle cents; the thick, white Civil War era Indian cents; the Nickel Three Cent Piece; all of the nickels; and the modern clad coinage are black, it is almost never a good thing.
Rest in Peace

I somewhat agree with Bill on this one ,but I'm still stuck in the old school theology . My first call on the Merc. was F-12 + . Buffalo is VG Details porous . Keepers for now until you upgrade .

1) It looks like it could make VF-25 to me.
2) VG-10 Details.
