The best I can tell by your pics, looks like AU-50
The small rim dents keeps it down, but with only a mintage of a little over 90k, at AU-50 according to Canadian Trends, $110.00

Nice Coin

I don't know these coins, but an AU-50 is possibly not out of the question. A bit of luster remains around the obverse letters and there is noticeable wear on the King's hair and especially on the tree on the reverse. I see some faint hairlines but nothing too severe. XF-45 might be a more realistic grade, overall.

One key grading determinant here should be mint luster, and photos don't always convey that well.
Comparing to my '38 $1, which is at least AU50, this coin has less wear/more detail in George's hair and overall a better reverse. The details in the canoe are particularly good, and yes--the tree is that flat even in MS grades. I'm going to say AU55-58 because it's well struck too--unless that obverse rim ding at 12:00 extends into the coin's edge.

the rim dent is of concern - my gut tells me it would be knocked down because of that. how is the luster - it's hard to tell in the photo - seems flat

i go with AU
