Fascinating stuff. I do have to wonder how widespread Roman gold and silver was in India... it's interesting to note that with the exception of Nahapana and one or two Satavahana kings, Indian numismatics is almost devoid of silver from the time period of 1-150 AD. The Kushans minted gold, but the rest of the peninsula used copper, potin, or lead for their coinage. Silver then picks up again under the Western Satraps around the time that Commodus was in charge, and native silver coinage was widespread by the time of the collapse of the West. Makes me wonder if the total amount of silver was constant during that time period thanks to trade with Rome and Parthia?
