Small pit in this coin looks like a struck through object, but wondering what? Pit is deeper than the photo shows, but no noticeable anything on reverse of coin at that site.

A hard glancing hit from another coin edge in 5000/10000 count bag, very heavy when dropped on foot!

Given the location, I think the most likely suspect would be a rim burr that has since detached.

Almost certain it is not a hit, as the I in LIBERTY is not pushed downward at all and seems to have been struck on top of whatever was there. I thought about a rim burr but I know very little about them.

I see what you are talking about, but the rim bur looks like it was thinning on that area. So I feel it was a struck through issue like biokemist6 mentioned. If it were a hit, then the reverse should show some displacement. I'm not seeing that on this coin.
