These came into a local coin shop and we are not finding much information
on them. We see the ones in red holders once in a while.

Has anyone bought and sold any of these?

I recognize the Blanchard name as a silver sales firm but have never seen their coins packaged like this.
Rest in Peace

@Conder101 or @BStrauss3 may know. They are both very knowledgeable with TPG and other slabs.

I have seen these for sale on ebay. Blanchard self slab coins in the late 80's and the coins were typical over graded. Blanchard did not slab any coins for the public.

Here is a link to one for sale on ebay: 232202141843

Yes Blanchard was active in the mid to late 80's basically slabbing their own coins. The shell was licensed from and designed by Alan Hager. There are two general varieties differing in the color of the reverse label, white or green. There is a third variety which is quite impressive and rare. An entire "original" roll of Morgan dollars slabbed in a single slab with the coins arranged in a 4 X 5 layout. The slab is a little more than 8 1/2 X 11 inches in size. I have only seen three of them. (One of which I own, including all the paperwork for the purchase by the original owner from Blanchard.)

As for the RedField dollar That was just something Blanchard put on the slab to indicate where the dollar came from to try and capitalize on the Redfield story. Unfortunately there is no way to prove that the coin came from the Redfield hoard or not. It could be like Paramount where they put their own dollars in holders and marked them RedField. (Paramount didn't mark theirs Redfield, they just put them in Redfield dollar style holders.)

It would be interesting to know what order for Redfield dollars these were.

Or maybe they were done at same time the red, green or black holdered
Redfield dollars that are seen more often.

The $400 to $500 price has been talked about ..in local shops.
But it would be nice to know, and not based on one or two sales.

---------------

Edit ... I was typing and did not see Conder101 post ...

Good information Conder101 .. thanks
