I don't have a lot of money so the only camera that I have is the one on my phone is a 13 megapixel. What app should I download for camera so I can get the best quality pictures of my coins?
Thank You

I'm not sure the software matters as much as hardware, but 13 mp sounds adequate. I've been taking pictures on my phone which only has 8 mp. Lighting and steadiness have huge effects on image quality. Make sure you are well lit, and try to set your phone on a steady surface instead of holding it. At this distance (less than six inches from the coin) make sure to switch to the macro focus mode on your camera.

There's also the photography subforum on ccf that might be of assistance to you. I don't really frequent that area, instead relying on my prior photographic knowledge and willingness to just experiment. Good luck!

Here is an amazing setup using an iPhone by DarthMorgan. One of our best photographers on this site says in the thread he cannot believe how good the pics Darth is taking are since since they are being taken with such an inexpensive setup.

There are a few things I have used (though I am not good at pics yet as I have not really made an all out effort). One is "WiFi Photo" that allows me to transfer from my phone to my computer over my home WiFi by simply opening a browser and typing in what the phone tells me to. It allows me to browse all pics on the phone and choose the ones I want to download - or to batch download.

The other is called "Snap Remote." It allows an inexpensive blue tooth shutter remote ( ebay for about a buck) to be used so you are not touching the camera when taking the pic - hence no way to jiggle it and mess up the pic.

Earle, Thanks for mentioning "WiFi Photo." I will have to see if it's compatible with Android. I need to transfer photos from my old phone with the broken USB port.

I think you may have omitted a link to DarthMorgan's setup though?

I like Magnifying Glass With Light (Pro version) by Falcon In Motion LLC.

It's marketed as a "Restaurant Menu Reader", which is a bit odd.

There is a free version, but it's worth $1.99 for the upgrade.

For lighting, I really like JANSJÖ LED lamp lights by IKEA. I specifically use the JANSJÖ Desk Work LED Lamp Light, Black (IKEA USA Model Number 201.696.58), but they have a variety of choices.
