Purchased a really sharp 1939-D. How would you grade?

Really nice!. Think you may have an RPM, hard to tell but does appear to be 1939D-1MM-001/RPM-001 D/D North, shows above and inside lower, at MS63 valued @ $12.00.

Jsala123, thanks,Lincoln RPM's are my passion and minimally learned expertise. Been looking at millions of coins, kinda get a feel for it. Most posted pix, if sharp image, can see an anomaly that bears a closer look, sometimes a fingerswipe enlargement works. Saw the thickness on upper portion of D. Because your coin was still distinct, was obvious, lot harder when below XF.

MS-65-RD due to "...major distracting marks in prime focal areas".

One could argue that there are more than two major distracting marks in prime focal areas, leading to a grade of MS-63.

On the other hand it has the "exceptional eye appeal", "attractive sharp strike", and "full original luster" of an MS-68.

If one seeks to grade strictly according to the ANA Grading Standards, a very legitimate and defensible position to take, then MS-63-RD is appropriate.

At the same time, a TPG would likely slab this coin at MS-65+ or MS-66.

All quotes are from Bressett & Bowers (2006, p. 25).

whats interesting is that the new pics actually show an MS66 coin as opposed to the original pics which in my opinion could have gone either way
