I know not to clean coins, however going through my old IHs and some of the dates are caked with dirt and are hard to read for doubles and errors. How do I safely remove this dirt from around the date so I can read it.

the best thing would be an acetone bath, but be careful, and do a search on the site to get the directions to do it properly.

but be warned that underneath that grime will look differently from the rest of the coin.
