My refiner WILL NOT take any coin after 1964 because of the trouble.
The coin dealers are NOT paying well for 40% coins EXACTLY for the reason discussed when I asked "who offers the best rates" Because they are passng them off to someone else.
"I want to be that someone else"!
the coins have to go somewhere. Somebody will melt them. But Who?
AND who in the USA is going to give me a good price without ripping me off? I don't expect to get rich... I just don't want to get robbed -again. Worse still I live in Hawaii and I have to ship them to the "mainland. A fact that almost nobody here even wants to deal with the added cost. But I do. Thank You Crispin

Thanks Crispin

I don't think they are many places that will buy 40% silver but you could just sell to a dealer for melt or a little less than melt, not 100% sure though

Life could be worse, I guess!

"AND who in the USA is going to give me a good price without ripping me off?"

Pardon me for being direct, but if you've asked around for dealer's quotes and got a general range, that's the price the market will bear, ie not getting "ripped off". There's no guarantee that you'll get full silver value for coins that are essentially "less liquid" than 90% issues. Perhaps I'm overstating the obvious, so my apologies here.

I know a few dealers here in California who trade in silver and give fair market rates. If you like, I can ask them what they'll pay. The amount of coinage you have may play a part here as well. Good luck!
