Okay guys and gals, I know this has some substantial damage and wear but I'm happy to have it for now, being my only one.

What are your thoughts on a grade (details) and what value would you put on it? Thanks in advance!

Technically, I'd say G-04 details (environmental damage, rim damage). Value - maybe five bucks tops.

I'm happy with that. I can't say really how much I paid because it was in a lot with other denomination coins.

Taken as a percentage of face for the lot and what I paid total, I came to paying about $0.20 for it.

Realistic value: $3-5

Antique mall price: $30

Was at an antique mall last night. Saw some approx. $60 (realistic value) Capped Bust Halves priced at $175 & $195 each. Apparently someone is buying since antique mall display cases aren't cheap.

Thanks everyone for the input!

In regard to my second question, I was curious if it may be an overdate because of the top right of the last 8. I don't see the tip of a 7 and there is a ding around where the die chip marker should be.

I don't see the broken wing feather so I'm left wondering what that actually is. It is definitely raised metal.



Edit: I couldn't find the answer directly but, are 1858/7s always large letters?

I've got a use for your wheel cent there, Crazyb0. Take 3 other modern pennies, drill a hole through the middle, stick an axle through 'em, and boom! A few more steps and you've got a penny car.
