The coin looks fine to me. Congrats on your first purchase! QR Code was probably a labeling issue, I wouldn't sweat it.

That's a beautiful coin, and very legitimate. Congrats on your first purchase, it's a great start! Stick around here for a few months and you'll learn tons about this great hobby. Welcome!

Edit: there's multiple different generations of PCGS slabs, this one's real too.

I got a 2015 Marshals silver commemorative in the mail today that is also missing the QR code on the label. I wonder if they quietly dropped it because most QR readers can also read the bar code on the front.

Thanks everyone for your input. I think I'm satisfied now that the coin/holder is genuine based on what everyone has said. Like I said it's a nice looking coin but I just wanted to get the opinion of more experienced collectors.

I think Morgan dollars far surpass the design of any of our modern day coins and they can be had for a relatively low price and in good condition too. Also the size and weight is impressive. This coin is about 138 years old and even though its spent most of that time sitting in a vault somewhere it is a direct link to the past. I think that's pretty cool!

That's why we love this hobby so much! We get to hold, own, and collect these beautiful pieces of history. Like I said earlier, we'd love to see you stick around. A few months of browsing here is like a whole friggin' course in numismatics!

I've been around here and collecting for about 4 months. I've learned a tremendous amount for free and am always learning more.

About the QR codes, it does make sense that they would drop them. They were new and "cool" for a while but, it seems most companies have abandoned them for any useful purpose.
