New to the forum and not very familiar with coins. I found this in some change and was wondering if it rare or just from some made for TV set. I couldn't find anything similar online with just one side gold. Let me know what you think. Thanks!!

I doubt that this coin was gold plated. With the rest of the coin not plated makes we wonder if someone used a high lighter on the coin to make it that color. If you carried it for a time in your pocket with other change, then the higher devices would turn silver again. This would tell you the coins surface had been altered.

Thanks for the input. I guess I'm not familiar with the highlighter but it doesn't look like bright yellow and when I took a highlighter to another coin it doesn't look anything like that either, maybe you have to use a special highlighter or apply it multiple times. Thanks

If it were high lighter, you might check the edges of the rims to see if it touches that area? If the rims are the same color as the center, then maybe it was done another way. On silver coins the sulfur in the air will turn some coins a yellow color. Or as big silver mentioned, left on a window sill? Something altered the color.
Rest in Peace

Could have been exposed to or laying on some surface that discolored only the side in contact with that surface.
