Is this one authentic? And of so, date, and is it a variety? 1914 Triangle in Yuan?

Weight: 27 g
diameter: 39 mm

Ostensibly a 1914 Yuan Shi Kai, but if genuine it's almost certainly from the 1949 restiking. The leaves on the reverse look a bit mushy in places but I don't see anything else that alarms me terribly. It's overweight, or the figure reported is not to a sufficient accuracy. Getting weights down to the hundredth gram and determining its specific gravity will go further to authenticate it than just assessing photos.

Regarding the "trangle" variant of the reverse, I'd refer you to the following webpages:

@petterkr, try using the search function of CCF with the keyword "fatman". There have been dozens of these posted to CCF over the years and you will be able to read about signs that your coin is fake (attracts magnet, wrong diameter, wrong thickness, wrong weight, mushy details, seam on edge, incomplete letters, bought at yard sale/flea market/craig's list, etc.)

For example, unless your piece is a variation, I don't believe that it has the correct form to the letters. Here is a real one for comparison:

Lucky: I'm not famliar with the 1949 restriking. Any information would be appreciated. And I have seen the pages you are reffering to. Thats why I'm asking. It looks like a triangle variant to me, so I was hoping perhaps some experts could confirm or deny that.

Spence: Thank you for your response. I know there have been a lot of threads about this type of coin. But I am no expert, and was hoping for some help. To me it seems quite alright, compared to the fakes I have seen.
