Nice collection..
I used to have a large Currency collection from Colonial to the F-* Web (that I thought was common at the time), & everything in-between..
When I joined
ebay in June 1997, I was collecting ephemera from the 1700's & 1800's, purchasing 1700's Newspapers and legal documents, but not any currency as I was still using Mail Bids & placing bids by Fax on out of State Auctions listed in
Coin World for my currency collection..
By 1998 I found that I now had access to error coins & currency.. I always loved seeing errors but never had real access until
ebay came along..
I sold everything in one lot, and never looked back..
In the 19 years since, I found this was my Numismatic calling all along, and what a ride it has been..
Fast forward to your notes.. While my mindset is on Errors and Varieties, if I was about 20 years younger, I would consider putting together the following..
Set #1)
$1.00 Silver Certificate transition Signature Series set with the last 3 Series printed in 20K Sheet Runs on both 18 & 32 sheet stock when transitioning from the 18 Letter "A" to "R" plate position to the 32 Alpha Numeric plate positions A1 to H4 COPE overprinting..
Signatures & Series (18) & (32)
Priest / Anderson 1935F & 1957
Smith /Dillon 1935G & 1957A
Granaham / Dillon 1935H & 1957B
It is easy to convert the Notes serial number to its assigned plate positions.. Also, if both varieties can be found with the same Block, that would match my next recommendation below.
Set #2) 12 Note set consisting of the only 4 Blocks printed in 3 distinct Varieties - F/W sheet fed - D.C. sheet fed & D.C. Web-Fed series 1988A $1.FRN
F-N Block = 10 Runs (FR#1915) - 2 Runs (FR#1916) & 3 Runs (FR#1917)
F-U Block = 4 Runs (FR#1915) - 8 Runs (FR#1916) & 3 Runs (FR#1917)
G-P Block = 7 Runs (FR#1915) - 6 Runs (FR#1916) & 2 Runs (FR#1917)
G-Q Block = 7 Runs (FR#1916) - 7 Runs (FR#1916) & 1 Run (FR#1917)
It would be interesting to see what the younger/newer members think about putting together these two variety sets..
To keep costs to a minimum, I would focus on non-certified high A/U grades..
