Ever since I was a kid I have checked all the change I get. Once in middle school in the mid nineties I got a 1943
Mercury dime from the school cafeteria. Since then I have found some older wheat pennies in change or coin roll hunting.
Every few months or so when I am visiting with my Nana she give me all the spare change she has collected since the last time I went through it. I count and sort it and give her the cash and look through them for things that I want. Usually nothing. Maybe a few new coins, a wheatie or two.
Cut to Wednesday. Nana gives me a bag of coins. I took them home with me. On Thursday afternoon I was about 5 minutes into my sorting when I saw it. A 1905
Indian Head penny. Although I have a few Indians in my collection that I have purchased or have been given to me over the years this is the only one I have ever found. I was in shock that it was still in (or recently back in) circulation.
