So I went digging through a foreign bin at my LCS today, dumped out the coins on the mat and saw the chain side sitting right on top of the coins. I knew exactly what it was before I even picked it up. My blood pressure went through the roof! Ever since I started collecting coins, this and the chain cent have been my holy grails of classic US coins. The dealer and I made a deal, I put the coin on layaway due to my having lack of cash since I was not planning on finding a Fugio today, and the coin will be mine very very soon, in my collection.

Thought I'd share this too, I kept digging and came across this. I brought this home with me today.

That is an awesome find!

I'm curious though, if it was in the "foreign" bin then they must not have known what they had.

It shouldn't be in a bin at all.

It was an unsorted bin. They had bought the lot of coins as foreign not knowing that and a few other American coins were in it. It would've eventually been discovered, but I found it first so I got first dibs on the purchase.

Makes sense. Double

It's funny. While in the process of continually learning, I only found out about the Fugio cents while conducting my 500th-post contest and doing some research about my middle name.

Also, I've only been here about 4 1/2 months but, I haven't seen one posted (not being everywhere, of course). Very cool and I'm glad you snagged it!

Never seen a " real" one before, glad you can have it in your possession soon! I'd even mortgage a grandkid or two for that! (no, but sometimes want to put them on layaway!)
