Here is an Arn 51 dollar. The 51 Arn varieties are very tough to find..

In the past I remembered "something" about the importance of seeing die cracks down each side of the canoe on these Arn varieties....

Can any silver dollar expert help out here with this 1951.?

These die cracks do mean something...in qualifying the Arn as a true Arn and not the short waterlines variety..

The back of the canoe(left) also has no discernible water lines showing on this example..

Any help greatly appreciated.. ..Thanks..

Raw or ICCS?...... Those die cracks on the front and rear of the Canoe, coupled with the very short rear lines are a feature of one Reverse Die of the Short Waterlines 1951. Another noticeable feature is the weakness at the centres of the Reverse. That Die was certainly ending the end of useful service.

nice example DEVLEC..those die cracks occur on about every silver dollar year after 1949 that I can think of up until about 1957. it isn't really a marker for the arnprior as they were just a common place for the cracks, whether it's a 1950, 51, 52, 53 etc. your coin looks like a short water lines at rear of the canoe example, this can also be found on many years and doesn't mean a coin is SWL, Arn or anything as it can be found on FWL, SWL and Arn coins since it is simply die polishing and many dies were used.

thanks for sharing DEVLEC always looking forward to your posts..the stuff behind the bust bothers me a bit, I can't tell if that is foreign matter or a milkier toning area..other than that small area it is a gorgeous gem of an example..congrats

the dollarman..

Thanks for the responses on my many..many questions..

I checked again and yes, it's a bit of milky toning near the back of the head. I'll try to get more pics in on that milky area after "my upcoming full day's worth of snowblowing and shoveling".

..and here are a few more pics..

...looks like a small indent dot just into the field behind the head..and a touch of milky toning around the small indent ..
