Hey Dhc, what are you seeing that you think might be an error. I see a little Machine Doubling on some letters in "states". Not really seeing anything else, though.

I agree with Oijogja, but I also imagine this was a very worn die that struck this coin.

Now that looks a little different. It might be part of a clash. Let's see what this overlay looks like... I don't think it's a clash, maybe someone else will have an idea, it's not more of the Machine Doubling.

Very, very worn die. You start to see all kinds of failures begin to happen. Chipping around the devices, die cracks, trail die lines forming due to mechanical stresses. These are "the price" of modern machining technology, NOT errors. If you microscopically inspect to this degree you will see all kinds of stresses happening on most every coin! Most all our NOTABLE error coins can be seen/recognized w/minimal magnification, 10-15x or less, 7-8x optimum. Trail dies, clashes, Cuds, die breaks, die chips, whatever the choice that turns your crank is readily found with smaller mag. Endoscopes have a place(pun intended) but not with coin errors.

Those might be die scratches. They tend to last longer near devices. The ones in the open fields flatten quicker. On the 'AME' on AMERICA it looks like metal striation lines on the bottoms of those devices. Probably MD in that area. (instead of flattening that area, the die movement moved the metal and left the lines from the edge of the metal. Nothing outstanding for a premium on these. But sometimes knowing what it is puts our minds to rest on a coin.
