Looks like it had some zinc gas bubbles that were burst open.

Called zinc rot. Inside the copperplated is a zinc base. Sometimes during plating, but most often once struck, small tears/holes are made around the devices. This let's air, moisture into the zinc core, hence zinc rot. This doesn't take long as you see.
