Hi all! newbie here. I must say I love this forum!! My question to all is weather this coin would be a strike through error? I came across it several years ago and stashed it away, I remembered it while poking around the forum and decided to see if anyone could fill me in on what it could be. Look forward to any insight Thanks in advance.

I have added a pic of the front and a dif. angle pic. The fire cracker comment is interesting as it actually does kind of look like a blast radius. Thanks for the warm welcome!

How much does your quarter weigh?
it should be 5.7 grams, but if it is less than the standard weight, the quarter was altered after it left the mint

Rest in Peace

to the forum.

That is a first for me, been trying to figure out what would have cauced that type of damage. Definitely PMD, something happened after minting, Need to see other side of coin to help determine what caused it. I suspect it was smashed into concrete? by a heavy machine (Forklift?)
but do need to see other side of coin. I altered your pix, #1 shows direction of motion, #2 shows point of highest impact.

It almost looks like a blast radaii? Would a firecracker do that?

It looks "whizzed" if that's the appropriate term.

Like someone used a drill with a wire brush wheel.

It all seems to radiate outward from the center point and affects the rim. I'll call it PMD.

Spruett you nailed it! Bet you can see vise marks on the reeded edge 180° apart. That's what I saw in the center, the wire tip of a circular brush!

It looks legit but I agree with fuzzy the weight should be impacted.

It looks like something the Mythbusters put on the front of a rocket sled. That's so weird looking, even as PMD.
