Also I don't know what that black dot on Lincoln. What are your thoughts?

Too bad, ED. Must have gotten moisture inside, looks like you've got a nasty carbon spot on Abe. Might just as well crack the set, try an acetone bath, maybe it'll help prevent any further deterioration, maybe...

Carbon spots, you're sunk...like rust its attached to impurities in the planchet, can't get rid of it entirely. Don't know @ the "toning", some idiots, er, folks prefer some toning...as said elsewhere, " toning is just improper storage".

Check for DDO'S!

I like the golden tone.

I agree, the cent is probably toast.

To bad about the Lincoln ... I don't think that one can be saved.

FYI ... not a mint set ... that one is a proof set.

I like the toning on the dime and quarter.

My guess is the set was not stored properly

Not to be a smarty pants, but it's a proof set, which is different from a mint set.
It would not be a big deal to carefully break the plastic open. Put these in another safe and suitable holder and replace the ruined 1 cent with a single 1969 S proof one cent coin.

If it looks like this it still has value but that carbon spot or corrosion has devalued it considerably either way.

The cent is a lost cause. A nice golden tone on the quarter is a plus to those who collect toned coins.

You can buy a whole new set for $5.95, less than cost of cleaning solution! and take out the toned coins you like and put them in album.

Yes...a dreaded carbon spot for sure.
