We just dug this coin from the bottom of an old box of stuff that we've had.

It took a while, but I'm sure it's a Russian 5 kopeks. All the ones I've seen online have been sold, and I've not seen any mistruck like this.

Anyone have an idea what it's worth?

Thanks!

I'm no expert on this type of coin, but various dates can be had on ebay for less than $40. They are crudely made and chunky. That's why I like them. Unless your coins date is more desirable, I would suspect a similar value mentioned above.
Rest in Peace

I think it's going to be tough or impossible to find anything similar for sale or that has sold recently because of the coin's age.

You might try getting an appraisal from an error coin dealer or search their sites for something similar so see what they are charging.

I just checked Fred Weinberg's site and it looks like the older off-center coins are worth more than the newer ones but his oldest is from 1855.

Grade matters, too, and I don't think your coin will grade very high.

Thanks jpbone! I already had it priced at $45. I just wanted a confirmation of what I came up with.

Though, honestly, I was hoping that the error would have made it more valuable...

Too much Vodka that day I think.
I would have guessed it's value at $15 to $20. Better grade than many. The O/c might not add much as the coins were crudely struck and minor errors more common, still, ya never know. Fun 5 Kopek no matter what.

Edit: replaced 4 with $.
