Is this a gas bubble? I did try to open with tooth pick and failed. It is the reason this bay is black.

It is probably die damage, whether a gouge or dent. the bays are even with the fields. The devices are deeper into the die. (dies are a negative, coins are a positive. Thus what is raised on the coin, is sunk into the dies.
