Hey everyone! I hate to be the newbie, but if anybody has information about this quarter I'd be grateful. I bought it at a local market for $12 Australian (About $9.25 in US dollars). Been collecting since I was a kid, but here in Australia you don't see these everyday so I don't really have a base to start from on it (even to Google reliable information). It isn't in amazing condition (My scanner has made it look darker than it is in real life too) but I fell in love with the design when I saw it. Any opinions? Have I been suckered? Have I hit a hidden treasure (I can dream lol)?

Hi John1, Thanks for the help! Obviously the S is a mintmark then (I wasn't sure if it was the designers initial). Great index of coins on this site too!

Reverse is decent ,obverse kind of shabby but full date and mint makes it an excellent hole filler . Price you paid , not that bad . That's just my personal opinion ,some U.S. newbies might consider your coin very collectable .

I think it's an excellent pickup and a great price!

Quote: You did very well. Um, yeah. Even with those surfaces which might have some slight corrosion ("environmental damage"), your coin is likely worth 30-40 times what you paid. Maybe you should check out what other bargains that seller is offering! Congrats!

Andthen there's this, a "Copy Coin" on the Chinesemarket- I would compare this to the first T in "States" on this copy to the OP's Quarter. They aren't found on real SLQ's. I'm sorry. I was hoping it was real until I saw these available for $6 on (Not Allowed). And the stock exchange made (Not Allowed) a stock traded here in the US. We're making these thieves richer.

@Stevo-Aus .... Suggest you check the weight in grams and the metal content, if possible. Is the piece attracted to a magnet?

This one costs $1.15. Funny, but The Guy With Forty Thieves Express forgot to put COPY or R on this one too.
