Hello folks. I have this 1946 S wheatback. Is this S inverted or Regular.

The inverted mint mark is on the ball serif mint mark.

You coin looks like the trumpet tail mint mark? (from what I can see)

Looking at it closer, from looking at your diagrams. To me it looks like a ball serif. What do you think?

The ball serif has a strong weakness in the center of the upper loop. Take a second look again. When this is inverted, the that weakness is on the bottom of the mint mark.

Here is a shot of the IMM to show what Coop mentions. When inverted the weakness shows up as an almost missing bit of the S right at the bottom. This is where you start when looking for these, but a trumpet tail S has a weakness there too, so it is not the deciding factor. It needs to be the ball serif with weakness at the bottom and then try to find some die markers. Tricky coin to be sure about.

Thanks for that and Yes it is confusing. I thought the bottom right of the S on my coin was going in. I hope my pictures did justice. Lol my eyes are bad anyways lol
