I'am trying to collect some of the earlier tokens that were in circulation along the shores of lake Ontario.
This is one of my latest pickups it was issued by a local hardware firm from Toronto called Watkins & Harris.
Any additional information would be appreciated, any varieties for these?
I was hoping to collect tokens in VF or better grade but I think I've maybe come up short on this one.
Could I get some opinions on the grade also please?

Cheers, Bill

Your half penny token is Upper Canada. UC-13 Breton 731
I don't have that one! See what you've done now?
You woke up the monster.
This may be considered a variation I suppose.

I collect these Canadian Colonial Tokens myself. Lots of fun!

There is also a J. Shaw & Co from Upper Canada.
We have to get the best we can afford sometimes.
( These do look better than my old pictures show here.)

There are similar tokens from Lower Canada with hardware themes.
T.S. Brown where there are variations.

Nova Scotia has the Black Brothers Halifax.
There's probably more but these all seem to be similar.

If you don't have this book, I highly recommend it.

UC13 in VG, cleaned (most of the tokens from this era have been cleaned but yours shows signs of and old scrubbing)

Appreciate the assistance from all.
Thanks for giving me the grade Wade, I guess I really blew this one on the grade, I didn't think it was a VF but I thought it would have reached fine.

Cheers, Bill

The 1833 is harder to find than the 1820. The book 1960NYGiants posted appears to be specific for Upper Canada and I'm sure it gets very deep into those. It isn't cheap either but it might be worth every halfpenny you spend on it.
The one I posted might cover a wider range of Canadian Colonial Tokens but maybe more general info. Mine is the 8th edition but I see there's a 9th.

The prices are good on these. I paid more, I know that much.
