Looks like the Liberty bell on the back of the halves.

What about the rim area over the head (what would that be from?)

We'll have to see what our experts think about this one.

I'm not sure but it looks like a large lamination error to me.

The mystery to me is on the indented Bell shaped area from the field going over the Eye, Ear and Shoulder area!

This coin was originally a planchet with a large lamination flap. The lamination flap shifted slighty and folded some as it moved through the production process. It was then struck into this coin. Because of the shift, there is some weakness on the reverse where there wasn't enough metal to fully strike up the design.

Often times, lamination errors are also struck through errors, but most here do not acknowledge them as such.

John I don't think he has it in the 2x2, it is just sitting on top of it.
