Picked this up recently only because as far as partial clad layer errors go this one is neat as heck and I thought $30 wasn't a bad deal. What say the CCF consortium

You noticed that too huh. I was thinking grease or something was on the copper planchet before the cladding process. Any other guesses?

What is going on on the bottom obverse, where the bottom half of the the last few letters of "quarter" are missing?

It looks like a lamination, both pre (the head) and -possibly- (QUARTER) post strike.

Judging by the reverse weakness, thinking this planchet had major defects (missing partial clad) prestrike. Thanks, Doug.

Looks like a peeling clad (after strike) and missing clad in others areas . (pre-strike)
