Vandalized or Imprisoned? I have this 1964 Jefferson nickel in what looks like a home-made paperweight or coaster. When I first found it it was scratched and dull and couldn't read the date. I polished it up hoped for a 1939 D or something good, but it is the most common date made and does not look unc. If I have nothing to do sometime, I may finish cleaning it up. I'm sure I can make it clear as can be, but it is still yellowed with age.

A 1916 nickel that's been worked over. Note on the obverse the crudely inscribed "1904" above the actual date - The reason for this is to be found on the reverse where the design has been totally obliterated in favor of a scratched in "F.G. Teed 12 years on the corner" -

The entombed Jefferson nickel posted earlier reminded me of this item I picked up at a swap meet some years back. The coin's obverse was partially gold washed before being made into this promotional piece - Here's another creative way to "vandalize" a Kennedy half dollar -
