Came across this 1946 s over d penny, atleast thats what it looks like after a little bit of research. Just needed a second opinion on it.

I think what you are seeing might be from Die Deterioration, if you look at the flow towards the rim on the date

I'd like to see that mm cleaned with acetone/verdicare, it is too gummed up to see the insides of the curves. An LDS version does show what looks like Die Deterioration East of lower curve, also, does appear to be in same quadrant/angle placement of WOMM-001 & 1946S-1OM-001...Before I render condemnation of OP's coin!

Looking closely, I think it's possible it's over a smaller (dime) "S", that sort of thing certainly happened in the era of handpunched mint marks. But to find a new variety after so many years seems improbable at best.

Halo1st is certainly prodding our collective sluggish Monday morning brains. I'll admit it took me a couple of minutes to get that....
