I am looking in to buying a full set of Ike dollars and Kennedy half dollars as a present. The sets that I'm looking to buy are not entirely BU, but mostly. Does anyone have an idea on the pricing?
I figured that an Ike set would be around 450 will all the mints; P, D, S. Am I close?
Also, the halves, would these be near 300 or less/more?
What do typical sellers charge for these?

I just spent $185 for an Ike set with the proofs. All BU and gorgeous. For around $200 you should be able to buy a really nice set.

The Kennedys I can't help you with.

Yeah $450 for an IKE set is really expensive. Definitely can stay under the $200 mare for a great set! I'd say $300-$400 would get you a great Full set of halves with proofs. Good luck

yeah, shopnbc is no place to buy coins and such. Keep your cash and take your time looking around for a good buy.

If you have the time, just roll hunt by ordering boxes of the Halves and pick out the BUs as you search as I have.
You will find alot of nice BUs, but, honestly, it will take alot of your personal time to do so.
Oh, and you won't find any proofs this way, only Ps and Ds...just FYI.
Good Luck and have fun,
Laura

ShopNBC is the highest prices I've ever seen on coins. You definately do NOT want to buy any coins from there! Go visit a local coin shop and see what they have. I love going to mine for gifts, he always has something laying around that's really cool and the prices are excellent. They KNOW the true value and usually just set a fair profit....unlike that website.

I have seen prices for the Kennedy's in BU with proofs, excluding the 1998 matte proof, for about $800 plus shipping. The 1998 Matte proof is another $300 to $325.

Can you/anyone give me all the dates/mints of a "complete" set of Ikes?
I have lots of Ikes I know nothing about...none circulated.
