Went over this coin again:

I found a die crack over the l and o of dollar continuing into the wreaths
Found what seems to be a die chip or possible Cud just above the O mint mark- I know zippo on Cuds, so I don't even know if its possible on these coins- just throwing it out there! It looks like raised metal to me.
Found die chips in the inner ear (OUCH!) LOL!
Found what appears to be a die gouge/chip inside the O mint mark- upper left to right on the diagonal.
*Did not find any letters YET!- if one is there, sooner or later I hope to find it.

First 3 pictures are from my original posting on April 2nd,2008.
Opinions again please- especially on the die chip? above the mint mark.

The mark above the O would be a die chip/flake. Seeing the die chips in the ear leads me to believe it is an LDS(late die state) of the VAM 36A. Check it out and see if it has any of the other markings on it. I would like to see a picture of below the date to see if it has the line under the 8. I would also like to see pics of the area between the wreath and tail feathers, and the area Below the I in PLURIBUS. See if you can duplicate the pictures in this VAMworld link.

This will be a nice find if you can verify it.

here are some pics you wanted to see- I don't see any dash under the 8.
There might be a very, very, very, feint e in the second and third pic- probably stretching the imagination a lot.

Your right on the money again with this being a later die state.
Jack Lee from VAM Wworld looked at the pics tonight also- he said all the clashes indicate Vam36A- but it ususally comes with the E on the Reverse- IF this does not have it, then in his opinion, its a later die state with a small chip over the mintmark.

I'm happy with it- either way
Thanks again!

Yes if the LDS had been polished than the E could have been removed. I do see what could possibly, maybe, be the remains of a polished away E. I think it will take higher magnification and better pics to prove it though. Did you check for the D O clashing below the I in pluribus? Maybe you could verify your coin if those are present.

I think the ear chips are pretty definitive for the obverse, but you need to verify the reverse as well to be able to specify the VAM listing. The Obverse die may have been polished and then paired with another Reverse die. This would be another VAM listing all together.

I looked at the pics on VAM World regarding the D & O clashing, but I can't see where the d might be- I think I see a circular line by one of the wreaths to the right of the I- is that the O? - I'm lost trying to figure out where these 2 letters are locatedthats why I did not send any pics- I'm not sure where to look.

New Pics this morning- under the I and to the right of the leaves- near the b in Pluribus.

also- What are these marks on the obverse of the coin- they are very shiny and have multiple gouges- post mint damage? heavy polished ?
Thanks again for the help-

I sent a response back to Mr. Jack Lee also this morning- he stated that if there is no
E is just a Vam36- but I'm inquiring as to how can this be when according to VAM world, a Vam36 is doubling of the date 18-3- this coin has nothing to do with that at all.

I asked him if this coin ,given the things I found, can stand on its own and possibly be submitted for recognition for a different VAM- waiting to hear from him- will let you know what he saiy's about this.

Thanks again.
