This Dime is part of the Mint set and it is still in Cello Wrap so please excuse some of the glaring, how did this happen to the Rim?

Not sure how it happened but that is one heck of a genuine mint error !
Wait for the error experts to chime in .

It is not a mint error but it is one of the very few forms of definitively mint-caused damage. The lines are crimp marks from the heat sealer used to seal the coins in the mylar pouch.

Good explanation,so when was this suppose to have happened ,before the coin went in this pouch ?because the mylar pouch that holds all Six coins( including this Dime) has no sign of damage.
And wouldn't the crimp marks effect the entire side of the coin rather than just Part of the Rim ?

Happens during the process of being sealed. Coin was normal after strike and damaged during the packaging or sealing process.

If the whole coin had been caught between the sealer when pressed, then yes the entire coin would show it.

If only a small section or parameter gets caught between the sealer then no. Thanks, Doug.

That is weird ,Would a heat sealer need that much pressure?

I don't feel this is the cause. The lines would be a lot closer. I feel someone damaged the coin. Note that the lines are not all the same on the rim?

I believe pressure is key for an airtight seal. How much pressure? I can only speculate the force given on a commercial level.

Do know the cheap home grade sealers need a good bit of pressure to acquire an airtight seal. Thanks, Doug.
