Possible 100 Kurush Gold Ottoman Coin - Need Help With Dating, Etc.

gaianeh New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 04/06/2017 6:01 pm Hello, I inherited this coin from my great-grandmother who lived in Turkey during the end of the Ottoman Empire. I believe it is a 100 Kurush gold Ottoman coin but I don't know much beyond that. Could anyone help with dates and any other relevant information? Thank you! The design seems to matche the 50 Kurus and not the 100. Possibly the 500. But I would guess the 50. The weight will help determine the denomination. Do you have a gram scale? Asssuming that your kitchen scale is in standard oz and not troy oz then the 50 should come in at about .13 and the 100 at .25 I would say that I am probably wrong about the denom.
